Shawnee State University’s Shawnee Game Conference (SGC) planning committee has announced this year’s keynote speakers for the 2023 conference. To be held Mar. 10 & 11, SGC will welcome Jarryd Huntley and Timothy Rodabaugh as this year’s keynote speakers.

Timothy Rodabaugh is a software engineer with more than 20 years of experience working on various software systems for the U.S. Department of Defense. Rodabaugh has spent the last eleven years working for the Air Force Research Laboratory in the Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory (GRILL), serving as the lead engineer. The mission of GRILL is to leverage commercial off-the-shelf technologies, including gaming, and apply it to the military domain. His keynote address, “Using Game Technology for Military Modeling and Simulation” will be held Friday, Mar. 10 at 12 p.m. in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

Jarryd Huntley is a lead performance engineer at Owlchemy Labs. He also plays important roles in Cleveland’s game development scene organizing the Cleveland Game Developer’s community, running workshops, and teaching classes. Huntley was the lead programmer of “We are OFK” and co-author of the 2017 book “Game Programming for Artists”. With talks at universities and conferences around the world, Huntley brings a unique perspective by drawing on his experiences from both enterprise software engineering and his professional music career. His studio, Polytundra LLC, released their debut title “Art Club Challenge” in 2018, which was featured in the 2017 Smithsonian American Art Museum Arcade. His keynote address, “Your Career – Charting Your Path Forward”, will be held Saturday, Mar. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

SGC is the longest running academic game conference in the Midwest. The event strives to bring all facets of gaming together in a two-day event, welcoming gamers, programmers, developers, promotors, designers, educators, industry specialists, and enthusiasts.
