Our Mission
The mission of the Women’s & Gender Equity Center at Shawnee State University is to promote, advocate, educate and support all students and faculty across Shawnee State's campus and community.
Through educational programming, we explore the connections among gender, race, economic status, sexual orientation, culture, ability, religion, political views and other significant characteristics of women's individual and collective identities.
Our commitment is to respect and value diversity by serving as a resource and liaison for students, staff and faculty on issues of equity through education, outreach and advocacy. It is by collaborating with campus partners that we create a safe, supportive and empowering community for all, regardless of identity: enhancing LGBTQ, multicultural, first generation, and women's experiences on campus.
The Women’s & Gender Equity Center is a place created to support this population of students with whatever their needs might be, whether that is to listen, to support, or to encourage. Let us support you as you strive to realize your full potential while here at SSU.
