The SOPAA Fine & Performing Arts Scholarship was established in 2021 by the Southern Ohio Performing Arts Association to honor their mission to “enhance, educate and entertain.” SOPAA began in the early 1900’s by a group of volunteers as Civic Music and evolved into the Southern Ohio Community Concert Series in the 1950’s and eventually into a non-profit performing arts association in the 1990’s.

The volunteer board partnered with Shawnee State University beginning in 1996 and continued their tradition of bringing affordable entertainment to the tri-state. This scholarship continues their legacy by supporting full-time students pursuing a Shawnee State University degree in Fine or Performing Arts.
