University Budget

SSU Fiscal Year

The Shawnee State University fiscal year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. The fiscal year is named for the date on which the year ends. FY24 covers July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.

Budget Cycle

The budget is developed by the offices of Finance & Administration and Institutional Budgeting, in consultation with departments across campus. The budget development cycle begins up to a year before the fiscal year opens. Normally, the budget for the coming fiscal year is approved by the Board of Trustees at its June meeting.

The State of Ohio has a two-year budget cycle. During the first year of each State biennium, approval of the university's budget may be delayed until the General Assembly approves the State's biennial budget.

There are three primary phases to the budget cycle: development, spending, and year-end activities. At any point in time, the university is performing tasks related to two or three fiscal years.
