Faculty, staff, or others may refer any student who may be experiencing academic or non-academic difficulty at Shawnee State University. Referred students will be contacted by either the Student Success Center (academic), Dean of Students, or the Counseling Center depending on the type of alert and assistance needed. The referrer's name will be kept confidential.
We are now using the Aviso Student Retention for our student referral system. Please follow the instructions below to refer a student.
How to Refer a Student
1. Sign in to Aviso.
Login info: Sign in through link provided, faculty & staff tab at the bottom of the Shawnee.edu homepage, or Blackboard. Aviso uses the Microsoft single sign on, so your login information is the same as your Office 365 login. If you have login problems, contact Glenna Heckler-Todt at email@example.com not ITS.
2. Look up the student you would like to send an alert on.
You can look up a student in one of your courses through the Course tab (see screenshot below).
3. Click on the Alert icon.
After you have selected the student you wish to issue an alert for, click on the Alert icon at the top of the screen (see screenshot below).
4. Choose an Alert Reason from the drop down list.
The send to field will automatically fill with the student's advisor(s). Make sure to choose an Alert Reason from the drop down list. Here is an example of what the alert form looks like:
