A junior at Shawnee State University, Jennifer Moniger loves the creative freedom she has found within her major of Studio Arts. Moniger was first encouraged to explore SSU by one of her high school teachers.

“Once I visited campus I fell in love with it,” she said “It was like everything aligned perfectly.”

Moniger has enjoyed being able to explore her creativity outside of the classroom as well. She is a member of Illuminate Campus Ministry Club and Delight Ministries. For those clubs she runs their social media accounts, allowing her to be creative with her posts and captions as she reports on what the club is planning for the semester and spotlights other members.

“I run all social media pages, reach out to people, spend a lot of time planning, and lead at least one meeting per semester for our weekly meetings,” she said.

Staying busy on campus, Moniger enjoys connecting with others on campus at events hosted by the Student Programming Board and other campus services. Last semester, she was crowned Homecoming Queen by her peers during the annual university celebration.

SSU has a number of student organizations, overseen by the Student Government Association. Students can join clubs that are connected to their majors, hobbies, or to explore new interests. Through campus involvement, students enhance their college experience, build their leadership and collaborative skills, and create lifelong memories.
