The Shawnee State University Kricker Innovation Hub will host “Entrepreneurship in Recovery” at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 18 as the next virtual installment of its Entrepreneurial Journey Speaker Series.

Portraits of speakers

Currently 1 out of every 3 Americans have been affected by substance use disorder with an estimated 20 million people across the country struggling with addiction. As media outlets continue to tell the narrative of the devastation created by the opioid crisis, entrepreneurs in recovery from substance use disorder are taking the reins of social enterprise to help drive the nation’s economic revitalization.

The event will host a panel discussion of social entrepreneurs – Eric Zimmer (author and podcast host in Columbus, Ohio), John Evans (founder of the peer support group RAW Addiction in southern Ohio), Jake Bradshaw (Midwest Director of Business Development for Seacrest Recovery Center), Jesse Harless (best-selling author and founder of Entrepreneurs in Recovery), and Taryn Strong (co-founder of the She Recovers Foundation).

Hosted through Airmeet, the event will feature a moderated panel discussion between speakers, including an audience Q&A and time for individual networking between speakers and attendees. The virtual platform allows participants to be involved with panelists and other attendees through polls, virtual tables, and other engaging activities to stimulate the experience of an in-person conference. Registration for the event is available on the Shawnee State University Kricker Innovation Hub Facebook page.
