Always knowing she wanted to attend Shawnee State University, senior Emma Madden doesn’t regret a single decision she has made to get here. Majoring in Marketing, she has stretched her education to include minors in Studio Arts, Digital Marketing Design, and Entrepreneurship.

Involved in several student organizations on campus, Madden was the president of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority for two years, the vice president of Bears Mean Business, and a member of both the Association for Greek Life and the Women’s Initiative for Strength & Empowerment. A direct result of her commitment and success at SSU, Madden was named as a member of this year’s Homecoming Court, representing the student body in the parade and coronation ceremony.

“I’m that kind of person that if I’m bored, I’m not doing enough,” she said.

Working with the university’s Office of Admission, Madden served as an Orientation Leader for three years, helping to welcome new students and their families to campus each summer. To others on campus, she is always encouraging students – new and continuing – to be involved and find their group on campus to make memories and grow with. While she has balanced a lot during her time at SSU, she is grateful for the opportunities that have been made available to her through her involvement.

“It’s kind of been crazy, but fun,” she said.

Providing opportunities for campus events, community service, professional programming, and more, Campus Life at SSU allows students to explore and find their community among the student and staff populations on campus. Organizations like the Student Programming Board, the Student Government Association, and Fraternity & Sorority Life among individual student organizations, give students built-in programming and involvement opportunities for students all across campus.
