Shawnee State University’s Celebration of Scholarship Committee is accepting submissions for the 2022 academic conference. The Celebration of Scholarship (COS) conference features students in baccalaureate and graduate programs from different colleges across SSU’s campus who deliver academic presentations showcasing their personal academic research.

Work presented at the conference relates to student’s research in their field, creative work in visual and performing arts, community service, and study abroad. The 2022 COS conference will be held the week of Apr. 4 in a hybrid format.

“All Shawnee State students are welcome to participate in Celebration of Scholarship,” said COS Committee Chair Dr. Erik Larson. “Celebration of Scholarship is a place for students to share their scholarly efforts with the campus community as both oral and poster presentations.”

Throughout the week of COS, recorded student presentations will be available to watch through the SSU’s Clark Memorial Library’s Digital Commons website. Live presentations will be held of those students nominated for Trustees’ and Humanities Awards.

“Scholarship takes a wide variety of forms, from a course research project to artwork and everything in-between,” said Dr. Larson. “Students can use Celebration of Scholarship as a way to gain practical experience giving professional presentations and can use it to help build their resumes. We look forward to seeing all of the excellent work that everyone across campus and online is doing.”

All students from SSU are eligible to present if they have a faculty sponsor to mentor them through the process. Presentations may be done individually or in small groups. Students wanting to participate can submit their presentation’s abstract through the Digital Commons website. Abstracts must be submitted by Mar. 18, 2022.
