Stanley Electric U.S. (SUS) Co-Ops program

Shawnee State University students in the Plastics Engineering Technology program volunteered with the city of London, Ohio as part of the Stanley Electric U.S. (SUS) Co-Ops program, which is a part of the 3rd Annual “Team Honda Week of Service.”

SSU students, Jake Dawson, Hunter May and Corbin Stockham, volunteered their time and efforts towards the City of London’s Access Cowling Project. The project was developed when a local resident lost her seven-month old son in an accident, and out of the accident, wanted to donate money towards making the park accessible for every child with a disability.

The London community, including SUS associates, pulled together to turn a small project into a $300,000 renovation for the park. Volunteers, such as SSU’s students, helped install new park equipment that have benefited all residents of London.

The 3rd Annual Team Honda Week of Service was held from June 8 through June 17, and volunteers from Honda and its dealers and suppliers conduct group volunteer activities in 48 states, as well as Canada and New Mexico. The Week of Service coincides with Honda’s Founder’s Day in North America, which marks the establishment of the first Honda business operation in America, on June 11, 1959.
