Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has appointed Ava Intelisano to serve as a Student Trustee on the Shawnee State University Board of Trustees. Intelisano will begin her two-year term as one of the university’s two non-voting Student Trustees following her appointment on July 10.

A Biomedical Sciences major from Middlefield, Intelisano is actively involved in campus leadership and student life. She currently serves as a Resident Assistant and has previously worked as an Orientation Leader, supporting new students as they transition to Shawnee State University.

Intelisano is a member of the Honors Program and a Choose Ohio First Scholar. She participates in the Early Assurance Program with Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to her academic achievements, she serves as President of the Rotaract Club, founded and leads the Outdoor Adventure Club, and is involved with the TriBeta Honors Society, Pre-Med Club, and Chemistry Club.

“It is an honor to be appointed as a Student Trustee to serve Shawnee State University and the State of Ohio,” Intelisano said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to give insight on student perspectives, while also learning more about the governance of our university.”

The Shawnee State University Board of Trustees oversees the university’s academic programs, budgets, general administration, and employment of faculty and staff. The Board consists of nine Trustees and two non-voting Student Trustees appointed by the Governor of Ohio.
