Having a natural connection to others, Jacob Lynn is looking forward to using his Psychology degree from Shawnee State University to build relationships in the workforce.

“I chose to study psychology at SSU for many reasons,” he said. “Psychology is a broad field of study, so I enjoy that my degree provides me with a lot of options. There are many disciplines within psychology that I can study in graduate school, and I can work in a plethora of different settings. I am also a huge people person, so I love that my psychology coursework has helped me hone my communication skills.”

On campus, Lynn has been able to connect with his professors and campus services that have helped him succeed.

“Career Services has been an extremely helpful resource during my time at SSU,” he said. “Because of Career Services, I found a field of study that was right for me and I learned many professional skills that will be essential to my future success. The psychology faculty have been helpful to my success at SSU. All of my instructors have been very understanding and willing to help their students both inside and outside of the classroom. I know that any time I have questions or concerns I can rely on my professors to have my back.”

Collaborating with the Office of Career Services, SSU’s Women’s & Gender Equity Center is celebrating students who “Flip the Script” on gender stereotypes and enter the programs they are passionate about. Throughout the week, the center will be sharing several spotlights to encourage others to “Flip the Script”.
