Shawnee State University junior Chloe Wilbur has been appointed to a two-year term as a student trustee on the SSU Board by Gov. Mike DeWine. Wilbur, a primary intervention specialist major from Wellston, also serves as a senior resident assistant and is an active campus leader.
Encouraged to apply by fellow student trustee Faith Kuhn, Wilbur recognized how the position aligned with her dedication to student advocacy.
“I focus a lot on advocacy in my program, and it’s so important for students to feel heard,” Wilbur said. “If I can play a role in representing student needs, it is a great opportunity.”
Serving on the board’s Finance and Administration Committee, Wilbur hopes to ensure that students feel included in key conversations.
“Students often think they are left out of discussions about how the university spends its money,” she said. “It is important to me that their concerns are represented when decisions are being made.”
Eager to learn more about higher education governance, Wilbur looks forward to her term and to helping elevate student perspectives across campus.
