Special Education is a rewarding career and teachers are in high demand!
Special Education professionals are committed to providing a quality education for students with and at risk for academic and behavioral challenges. At Shawnee State, we deliver a quality K-12 program built on the Initial Preparation Standards recommended by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
As part of the School of Education’s clinical model of teacher preparation, pre-service teacher candidates engage in field experiences beginning in the freshman year and continuing throughout the four-year degree program. We are passionate about creating inclusive learning environments that capitalize on students' strengths and are characterized more by the use of evidence-based practices.
As a graduate of Shawnee State’s Intervention Specialist degree and licensure program, you will become a well-qualified, sought after member of the education community.
