University Academic Policies

SSU maintains academic policies pertaining to issues such as academic misconduct, grade appeals, and other similar issues, which students in the graduate programs are expected to follow. These policies can be found in: The SSU Graduate School Manual, SSU’s Academic Policies and Appeals page, and The SSU Student Conduct Code.

Student Conduct Code

Graduate students in the MBA program must adhere to the SSU Student Conduct Code, which outlines expectations for student behavior and processes for adjudicating violations of the code.

Cheating, Plagiarism, and Other Forms of Academic Misconduct

The University's Academic Policies include a section on academic misconduct, which includes but is not limited to cheating on exams, unauthorized group work, and intentional and unintentional acts of plagiarism. Any form of willful academic misconduct will be met with harsh consequences. The procedures defined in the University's Academic Policies will be strictly followed for all occurrences.

Spring Graduation Ceremony

MBA students in good standing who plan to complete the MBA requirements in the Summer term may be hooded during the graduation ceremony of the prior Spring term. You must be in good standing, be registered for the courses required for graduation, and have the approval of your advisor and the MBA Program Director. You may also choose to defer participation to the Autumn ceremony.

MBA Publication and Writing Style - APA

To create a consistent academic experience and to reduce uncertainty in requirements, the MBA Graduate Program Faculty have committed to using the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) Seventh (7th) Edition as the required style of all assignments unless otherwise specified in an assignment.

Students starting the MBA program in the Spring 23-24 and after will be required to take online training on academic writing and the APA style.

You will learn through the training and your coursework that the issue of plagiarism can be complex and sometimes may be accidental. It is your responsibility to ensure that when incorporating others’ ideas and words into your own work, you must give credit to them by properly using citations.

All work you submit in this program must be "an original work of authorship" by the submitting student unless otherwise specified in the assignment instructions.

Familiarize yourself with and use the APA style for documenting and citing your sources in your writing. If you feel uncertain about your documentation practices, contact your instructor, advisor, or the MBA Program Director for guidance. The SSU Writing Center can also assist you with documentation concerns.
