Shawnee State University’s most recent graduating class in the Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) program has received a 100% pass rate on their board exams, School of Nursing officials announced.

ADN 2023 Students

“Our class became a family that worked together, studied together, cried together, and ultimately succeed together,” said Dorothy Nelson, member of the ADN Autumn Class of 2023. “My favorite thing about our class is the way we were always rooting for each other. We got more excited for each other’s success on a test that our own. I truly think that team mentality is what helped us succeed.”

SSU’s ADN program develops ready-to-work nurses in only two years through its competitive program. For over 30 years, the ADN program at SSU has graduated quality nurses who have assumed multiple roles in health care facilities in the community, region, and across the nation.

“We couldn’t have done it without each professor being exactly who we needed that semester,” said Nelson. “We needed the nurture Janet provided, the structure Heather provided, the making learning fun A.J. provided, the professionalism Dr. Sherman provided, Ruby pulling us through to the finish line letting us know we are capable, and Dr. Bailey being there between each class to offer a smiling face or words of wisdom. I am so grateful for the opportunity to become part of a community together with the most amazing nursing family.”

Serving those just beginning their nursing educational journey to licensed nurses seeking high quality educational opportunities, the SSU School of Nursing continues to respond to the demand for more prepared nurses. The school is in the process of developing plans for additional pathways to nursing, accelerated degrees, and advanced degrees – including a Master of Science in Nursing.
