Shawnee State University’s Children’s Learning Center (CLC) recently added a Nature Preschool program as part of its regular preschool curriculum.

As part of Nature Preschool, students have the opportunity to travel to the Shawnee Forest Nature Center every week to explore the outdoors. The goal is to provide the opportunity for students to discover the wonder of the natural world around them. In addition to traveling out to the forest, naturalist Jenny Richards from the Nature Center will also be frequently visiting the CLC to provide experiences that meet the Ohio Early Learning and Development standards of cognition and general knowledge by allowing students to explore the elements of their natural world.

“We are so grateful to incorporate this program for our students. They just light up and seem to be in their element when they are exploring nature,” said Amanda Hedrick, Director of SSU’s CLC.
