“I come from a country where healthcare is not the best, and I want to be involved in the healthcare field so I can give back and make a difference,” Ferguson said. “Shawnee State University was a great choice for me due to its affordability, professors and healthcare programs, which are well known for their quality.”

Starting as a Nursing major, Ferguson discovered her passion for Radiologic Technology at Shawnee, a field she had not known before but quickly embraced.

“It was a job field I never even knew existed,” she explained. “But I ultimately loved it.”

Affordability was a major factor in Ferguson's decision to attend Shawnee State.

“Free tuition is available to many students who qualify, and several merit scholarships help make college possible,” she said. “The affordability and variety of programs have definitely helped me prepare for my career.”

More than just academics, Ferguson credits Shawnee’s professors and the Career Services department for supporting her growth.

“Our professors are dedicated to providing the best learning experience through hands-on experiences, clinicals, videos and one-on-one sessions,” she said. “Career Services helps us get ready for the real world from interviews and resumes to internships.”

For Ferguson, Shawnee State is more than just a university; it's a place that shaped her future.

“The Shawnee community creates a thriving, authentic environment to grow academically and interpersonally,” she said. “They gave me the opportunity to explore what I wanted to do and led me to my passion. If they can do it for me, they can do it for you.”
