In searching for the right college, Connor Phipps wanted to make the decision that was best for him financially. By attending Shawnee State University, he’s able to save money by living at home and commuting to class - and the low tuition costs of Shawnee State help him out even more. Now Connor can focus on getting the most out of his classes and save the stress for test day.

“Get in the lab and get hands-on,” Connor advises incoming students. “The professors are here to help, and they really care about you.”

The Society of Plastics Engineers club is available to plastics majors on campus who have an interest in touring facilities and meeting those employed in the industry, opportunities that can get you a head start on your future. The club also holds campus events, such as their cornhole tournament. Connor recommends getting involved with events on campus, especially students who commute.

This past summer, SSU Plastics students attended the National Plastics Expo in Orlando, Florida.

Shawnee State maintains multiple partnerships with leading manufacturers to ensure internship opportunities for students like you. So whether you’re going to pursue a four-year or two-year degree, you’ll find yourself equipped with the skills you’ll need to succeed in the fast-paced world of plastics engineering.
