Shawnee State University receives INSPIRE Award to develop BSW program

Shawnee State University was recently one of 43 recipients of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s INSPIRE (Investments Supporting Partnerships in Recovery Ecosystems) award. SSU will receive $500,000 to address workforce shortages in the areas of behavioral health and addiction treatment services.

“Mesmerizing Magic” coming to the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on October 24

Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) welcomes magician and illusionist Jason Hudy to perform “Mesmerizing Magic” on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Starting at 7:00 p.m., the performance will be held in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater of the VRCFA.

Shawnee Game Conference announces keynote speaker Tyvic Stallworth

Shawnee State University’s Shawnee Game Conference (SGC) has announced Tyvic Stallworth will serve as a keynote speaker at this year’s event. A game designer that specializes in player mechanics and combat systems, Stallworth has a keen interest in making sure his designs are backed by intuitive game feel.

SSU students attend Stand Down to End Homelessness Event in Portsmouth

Shawnee State University students participated in this year’s Stand Down event focused on ending homelessness in Scioto County. Students volunteering had an interest in social work and sociology, and wanted to participate in assisting attendees with finding services offered within the region.

Shawnee Game Conference announces keynote speaker John Zuur Platten

Shawnee State University’s Shawnee Game Conference (SGC) has announced John Zuur Platten will serve as a keynote speaker at this year’s event. With a twenty-year career in the entertainment business, Zuur Platten has experience in writing for video games, films, television, digital media, and books.
