SSU sophomore gains field experience through Organismal Biology program

Reagan Lewis, a McDermott, Ohio native, has experienced her major of Organismal Biology firsthand in the field. When starting college, Lewis was not sure what route she wanted to take in her education. Now in her sophomore year, she ended up picking the Biology program because of her long interest in science and nature.

Shawnee State international students find welcoming environment on campus

Claire Favre, an Exercise Science major from France, and Guilherme Belo, a Plastics Engineering Technology major from Brazil, have found that Shawnee State University’s international student program has given them both the opportunity to play soccer, study, and experience other cultures all at the same time – an opportunity they have both thoroughly enjoyed.

 

Shawnee State University BSN graduates receive 100% board pass rate

Shawnee State University’s most recent graduating class in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has received a 100% pass rate on their board exams, School of Nursing officials announced.

“It really demonstrates our program’s rigor – our faculty members ask a lot of our students and our students ask a lot of themselves,” SSU School of Nursing Director, Dr. Cathy Bailey said.

SSU’s Kelley finds rewarding experiences in Dental Hygiene program

Felicity Kelley, a Huntington, West Virginia native discovered her niche in Shawnee State University’s Dental Hygiene program.

“I have always wanted to be in dental,” she said. “Shawnee was the closest to home and gave me the opportunity to have a flexible schedule where I am still able to spend time with my friends and family.” 

Reaching her dreams through SSU’s Art Education program

Shawnee State University has been the top choice for Lucasville, Ohio native Riley Galloway since she first decided to pursue a career in Art Education.

“It was always an educational environment that was a big part of the county and was always connected to the local public schools,” she said. “It was so close to home, and it offered the exact major I wanted to take.”

SSU’s Storer inspired by culture and traveling in Honors Program

A native of Peebles, Ohio, Avery Storer has enjoyed her experience as a member of the Honors Program at Shawnee State University. Completing her associate degree in high school as a student in the College Credit Plus program, Storer has enjoyed being able to connect with others on campus through the advanced program

“This is my first year in the Honors Program, but I really like it,” she said.

Shawnee State University to host Day of Giving on November 28

Shawnee State University Development Foundation (SSUDF) will host its annual Day of Giving on Tuesday, Nov. 28 as part of Giving Tuesday. The 24-hour fundraiser will raise funds for the Shawnee Fund – the foundation’s unrestricted fund that supports scholarships, grants, student and faculty research, academic and student programming, and much more. This year’s fundraiser strives to raise $40,000 through the campaign.
