SSU’s Kelley finds rewarding experiences in Dental Hygiene program
Felicity Kelley, a Huntington, West Virginia native discovered her niche in Shawnee State University’s Dental Hygiene program.

“I have always wanted to be in dental,” she said. “Shawnee was the closest to home and gave me the opportunity to have a flexible schedule where I am still able to spend time with my friends and family.”
SSU Arts & Sciences’ podcast hopes to inspire classrooms in the region
This fall, Dr. Kim Inman, the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Shawnee State University, and her faculty launched a new podcast, Connecting Classrooms, to strengthen their connection to the local K-12 classrooms.

Actuarial Science major sees the numbers add up at Shawnee State
Evan Bower, a native of McDermott, Ohio chose Shawnee State University with an interest to pursue a major that aligned with his strengths.

“I thought to myself, ‘what did I succeed at in high school?’ and it made me realize it was math,” said Bower.
Reaching her dreams through SSU’s Art Education program
Shawnee State University has been the top choice for Lucasville, Ohio native Riley Galloway since she first decided to pursue a career in Art Education.

“It was always an educational environment that was a big part of the county and was always connected to the local public schools,” she said. “It was so close to home, and it offered the exact major I wanted to take.”
SSU’s Storer inspired by culture and traveling in Honors Program
A native of Peebles, Ohio, Avery Storer has enjoyed her experience as a member of the Honors Program at Shawnee State University. Completing her associate degree in high school as a student in the College Credit Plus program, Storer has enjoyed being able to connect with others on campus through the advanced program

“This is my first year in the Honors Program, but I really like it,” she said.
Shawnee State University to host Day of Giving on November 28
Shawnee State University Development Foundation (SSUDF) will host its annual Day of Giving on Tuesday, Nov. 28 as part of Giving Tuesday. The 24-hour fundraiser will raise funds for the Shawnee Fund – the foundation’s unrestricted fund that supports scholarships, grants, student and faculty research, academic and student programming, and much more. This year’s fundraiser strives to raise $40,000 through the campaign.

Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) welcomes a past favorite, Celtic Angels, back to the stage for their holiday show on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Celtic Angels Christmas will start at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater of the VRCFA.

Shawnee State University’s Nursing programs renews ACEN accreditation
Shawnee State University’s School of Nursing has received a renewal of its accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The program received a maximum accreditation renewal of eight years through 2031.

SSU accounting senior is ready to enter the workforce
Aurie Coriell, a Minford, Ohio native, has thrived as a member of the Accounting program at Shawnee State University. A member of the Women’s Soccer team, she is excited to be able to play on the same team as her younger sister while she completes her degree.
