Connection Trio to perform at Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on November 6
Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) welcomes the Connection Trio on Monday, Nov. 6. Starting at 7:30 p.m., the Brazilian trio will perform in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater of the VRCFA.

Shawnee State University to host Allied Health Science Day on Nov. 17
Shawnee State University’s Office of Admissions will host an Allied Health Science Day on Friday, Nov. 17. The event welcomes high school students who are interested in learning more about the various allied health science programs offered within the university.

Alumna seeks new opportunities through Shawnee State’s MBA program
Therese Egbert, a 2006 graduate from Shawnee State University, has always aspired to pursue a master’s degree. With the introduction of Shawnee’s new Master of Business Administration program, she could not pass up the opportunity.

“Ever since I graduated, I have wanted to get my master’s degree,” she said. “Now that the opportunity is in my backyard, I figured why not try?”
Shawnee State University receives INSPIRE Award to develop BSW program
Shawnee State University was recently one of 43 recipients of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s INSPIRE (Investments Supporting Partnerships in Recovery Ecosystems) award. SSU will receive $500,000 to address workforce shortages in the areas of behavioral health and addiction treatment services.

“Mesmerizing Magic” coming to the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on October 24
Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) welcomes magician and illusionist Jason Hudy to perform “Mesmerizing Magic” on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Starting at 7:00 p.m., the performance will be held in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater of the VRCFA.

Shawnee Game Conference announces keynote speaker Tyvic Stallworth
Shawnee State University’s Shawnee Game Conference (SGC) has announced Tyvic Stallworth will serve as a keynote speaker at this year’s event. A game designer that specializes in player mechanics and combat systems, Stallworth has a keen interest in making sure his designs are backed by intuitive game feel.

SSU students attend Stand Down to End Homelessness Event in Portsmouth
Shawnee State University students participated in this year’s Stand Down event focused on ending homelessness in Scioto County. Students volunteering had an interest in social work and sociology, and wanted to participate in assisting attendees with finding services offered within the region.
Shawnee State University announces Spring 2024 registration dates
Shawnee State University’s Office of the Provost has announced its course registration dates for the Spring 2024 semester. Priority registration will take place Oct. 23 – Mar. 27 through the online MySSU student portal. Registration will open each day at 12:30 a.m.
