Shawnee State University Development Foundation launches Student Emergency Fund

The Shawnee State University Development Foundation has established the Student Emergency Fund to support current Shawnee State University (SSU) students continuing to make progress on their degrees during this time. The fund, established earlier this month, seeks to raise $20,000 to assist those students in need of software and hardware materials to complete their online coursework.

Shawnee State University Students Develop Face Shield Prototypes to Assist Medical Community

Students in the Plastics Engineering Technology program at Shawnee State University have created prototypes for face shields that could be used to protect local health care workers. More than ten of the prototypes are now being evaluated by medical professionals at Shawnee Family Health Center and Southern Ohio Medical Center.

Shawnee State to hold Virtual Commencement for Spring Graduates

Shawnee State University is planning a virtual commencement for all Spring 2020 graduates at the completion of the semester on May 16. Spring graduates will also have the opportunity to walk in SSU’s Fall Commencement Ceremony on December 12, 2020.

“Commencement is a significant milestone,” SSU President Jeff Bauer said. “We believe our graduates deserve immediate recognition for their accomplishments and the opportunity to celebrate with friends, family and faculty in-person later in the year when we are all able to be together.”

Vern Riffe Center for the Arts Events Rescheduled

The Vern Riffe Center of the Arts at Shawnee State University has rescheduled events in March to reduce the risk of transmission of the coronavirus COVID-19. The Center is responding to the Governor’s state of emergency declaration and executive order from the state of Ohio to all public agencies and universities to curtail all large group indoor events, in an abundance of caution.
