Shawnee State partners with Columbus State Community College in the RN-BSN program

Shawnee State University is happy to announce an articulation agreement with Columbus State Community College (CSCC) to offer enrollment opportunities to their Associate Degree Nursing graduates in the online RN-BSN pathway.

The online RN-BSN program at SSU has been established, but since the university has developed with online General Education Program, the RN-BSN online program has become even more attractive to students outside of the Portsmouth area.

Shawnee State partners with Marshall University for preferential admission for Athletic Training program

Shawnee State University has partnered with Marshall University to offer preferential admission for SSU students majoring in Athletic Training who plan to pursue a master’s degree.

The agreement will allow up to three SSU students every year to use the newly established connection to continue their education at Marshall University.

Shawnee State University Receives Grant for Behavioral Health Paraprofessional Training Program

Shawnee State University announced today that it has been awarded a $900,000 federal grant to expand the paraprofessional workforce involved in opioid addiction treatment.

The grant, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, supports a three-year behavioral health paraprofessional training program to be offered by Shawnee State.

Shawnee State University Receives $1.5 Million Grant from Appalachian Regional Commission to Support Entrepreneurship Among Recovery Community

Shawnee State University was awarded $1.5 million by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to expand entrepreneurial training and partnerships with substance abuse recovery networks across Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. The initiative, “LIGHTS Inclusive,” builds upon the success of a previous award to the LIGHTS (Leveraging Innovation Gateways and Hubs Toward Sustainability) Regional Innovation Network, providing entrepreneurial assistance to startups and strengthening community innovation gateways like the SSU Kricker Innovation Hub.

Shawnee State University to host Ohio Mathematical Association of America

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Shawnee State University will host the fall meeting of the Ohio Section Mathematical Association of America (MAA) on October 25 and 26.

The MAA is the world’s largest community of mathematicians, students, and enthusiasts focused on furthering the understanding of our world through mathematics because it drives society and shapes lives. Their mission is to advance the understanding of mathematics and its impact on the world.

Jeffrey Albrecht appointed as newest member of Shawnee State University Board of Trustees Committee

Shawnee State University Board of Trustees (BOT) welcomes Jeffrey Albrecht as its newest member. The SSU BOT consists of nine voting members and two student members, appointed by the Governor.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Albrecht as our newest member and are looking forward to hearing his ideas he will bring to the committee,” said SSU President Jeffrey Bauer.

Albrecht, of Portsmouth, Ohio, is a graduate of Ohio State University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
