The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has named David Kilroy, Program Director of the Shawnee State University Kricker Innovation Hub, to participate in the 2021-2022 class of the Appalachian Leadership Institute.

Growing up being involved in politics at an early age, Matthew Smallwood quickly realized he wanted to pursue a legal route for his career starting at Shawnee State University.

Shawnee State University will induct four former athletes into its SSU Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 1. Making up the induction Class of 2021 is Jason Burcham (’00), Vernita Provitt-Lyons (’99), Michael Owen (’11), and Tara Walker Pendell (’06).

Shawnee State University has announced its 2021 Homecoming Court as part of its annual Homecoming celebration. This year’s court is represented by twelve SSU students in various degrees and representing multiple student organizations.

Shawnee State University’s Office of Admissions will host their College & Career Fair on Thursday, Oct. 14. The event invites high school students, parents, guidance counselors, teachers, and adult learners looking to earn a college degree or prepare for the career of their choice to attend.

The Shawnee State University Development Foundation (SSUDF) is hosting their second annual Rubber Duck Derby to raise money for the Shawnee Fund. To be held during the Homecoming Tailgate on Oct. 2, donors can purchase ducks in advance to compete in the derby to support the fundraiser.

Alumna Jennifer Aikman took the time to discover what she was passionate about while at Shawnee State University. While being involved across campus was easy for Aikman, choosing her major took some time to develop, but her choice ended up being the right fit for her.

The Office of Admissions is excited to host their first in-person event of the autumn semester on Saturday, Oct. 2. Fall Preview Day will welcome those high school junior and seniors who are interested in learning more about Shawnee State University.
