Shawnee State University has announced the Matt Mathews Early Arrival Scholarship program to award 25 scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to new students beginning in the Autumn 2021 semester. These scholarships will be renewable each year for those students who maintain a 2.0 GPA.

A 2019 Shawnee State University alumna, Destiny Chester found her career path at a young age – as an outpatient at Nationwide Children’s Hospital rehabbing an injury she received her senior year of high school.

Dr. Brenda Haas was recently sworn in as the newest Trustee on the Shawnee State University Board of Trustees. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed Dr. Haas to the board in April 2021.

Shawnee State University’s Kricker Innovation Hub (KIH) hosted their inaugural Ignite Portsmouth: Entrepreneurial Journey Boot Camp and Pitch Competition at the end of last month. Eighteen teams of potential entrepreneurs took part in the six-week boot camp to receive support towards implementing their business ideas.

Shawnee State University is pleased to announce that Dr. Lavanya Vemsani has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in History for the 2020-2021 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. This is the first award of its kind for a professor at SSU.
