Shawnee Game Conference is the longest running academic game conference in the Midwest. This year SGC continues to be hosted by the Kricker Innovation Hub — a center for entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity and the home of the EDA funded gaming accelerator program at SSU!

Workshops — Shawnee is nationally recognized for its amazing Game Development programs. These educational experiences are extended to a larger audience in a smaller package. Often lead by SSU gaming professors and students.
Esports Tournaments — After the excitement from last year's premier Shawnee State event, we're back with another exciting edition of Shawnee State Showdown on November 7th! We already have players like TWITCHY!, Dr. Kirb, SpaceMiner, Dreamless, and more in attendance, alongside a $1000 pot bonus for Ultimate Singles.
Game Design Competition — Pitch your game. Pitch it as a business. Win funding to build it. Open to every enrolled college student in Ohio and beyond, presented at SGC 2026 in partnership with the NACCE Everyday Entrepreneur Program. Apply by October 30!

If you’re interested in turning ideas, art, sound, animation and music into games that work, Shawnee State’s Bachelor of Science degree in Gaming Engineering Technology may be the degree for you. This degree focuses on game programming, software development, and foundations of computer science. You’ll learn how to apply these skills to bring projects from concept to completion.

If you’ve ever dreamed about creating a world of your own, Shawnee State’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Game & Simulation Arts may be right for you. You’ll study the art side of game design and gain core skills in traditional and digital art. You’ll learn how to bring your art to life through 3D animation, character design, and interface design.
