Meet Hayden.
For Hayden Blankenship, Sport Management major at Shawnee State University, discovering new career paths has been a game changer.
“I'm proud to be part of Shawnee State’s Sport Management program where I’ve gained valuable skills in media and communication, which led me to join the school's student media team,” he said.
After being sidelined from baseball due to a heart condition, Blankenship found new ways to be involved in sports.
“Now I get to stay connected to the game I love by filming and creating content for the team,” he said. “It's been an incredible way for me to still be a part of the team while building hands-on skills for my future.”
Blankenship credits Shawnee State’s environment for helping him grow personally and professionally.
“Whether it’s my advisor helping me with classes, a coach helping me become a better athlete, or even campus security jumping my truck when my battery went dead, everyone here at Shawnee is friendly and helpful,” Blankenship said.
Shawnee State has offered a strong community environment for Hayden.
“Looking ahead, I'm excited to keep building skills in sport management media while staying connected to the game of baseball,” he said. “This journey has taught me resilience and the importance of adapting to new opportunities around me.”
