Welcome New Bears!

Do this as soon as possible to make sure your financial aid is in place. If you have already completed the FAFSA, make sure you added Shawnee State University (our school code is 009942) so we'll receive your information.

Shawnee State provides each student with accounts that grant access to all of the technology on campus, including services like your @MyMail Email, your MySSU Student Portal, the campus wi-fi, the Blackboard system for online course interactions, and the SSU App. You need to visit the Get-Connected web page to complete the set-up and verification of these accounts. Once you have created a personal password and set your security settings, you can begin taking full advantage of the tools that allow you to register for classes, talk to your faculty, meet classmates, or even check your grades.

You can get to know ITS and learn more about the technology services available to students by visiting Information Technology Services (ITS) at Shawnee State. Anyone considering the purchase of a laptop for use during the college experience can learn about the SSU Bears Discount by visiting Discount on Lenovo Products for all Shawnee Bears.

You can also download and use the SSU app to access your schedule and communicate with fellow students and staff.

Follow the steps listed below to register for orientation:

1. Sign up for orientation and complete this short survey to help your academic advisor find the best schedule for you: Orientation Registration and Advising Survey
2. After registering for orientation and completing your survey, complete the orientation session here: Online Orientation
3. Submit your orientation fee: Pay Orientation Fee
4. Complete your FAFSA (code 009942 for SSU), submit any verification documents if requested, and ensure your financial aid or your first payment is in place by the first tuition payment deadline.

After you have completed your online orientation session, this is what happens next:

1. Your academic advisor will reach out to you through your SSU email to schedule a Zoom meeting to help you with your schedule.
2. After you have registered for classes, you can come to the campus at your earliest convenience to pick up your student ID card in the Student Business Center located in Morris University Center on the second Floor (Campus Map).

Submit the $50.00 non-refundable orientation fee. You can access the online payment option, or you can submit a check or money order to the Office of Admissions.

Our financial aid counselors are here to help navigate the process — from de-mystifying the FAFSA to identifying available tuition assistance. To view your financial aid package, log in to MySSU and click the Financial Aid tab.

From your MySSU portal, click the Housing Tab to submit your Housing Application.

Of course, if you plan to commute from home (only available for those whose parents live within 50 miles from campus), you can expect a full student life experience, too.
