Alexis Conley has her heart set on helping others, so she is pursuing a biology degree with a pre-medicine focus. Her dream is to become a general surgeon and give back to her small-town community, offering good health care to the people who deserve it. Thanks to Shawnee State University, she is prepared to go on to medical school when she receives her degrees.
“Shawnee has one of the best pre-medicine programs that an undergraduate student could attend. The advisors and professors really invest in their students and they care about their successes.”
Shawnee State University has an outstanding undergraduate program for students, allowing them to get involved in research opportunities, join the Pre-Med club or the Tri-Beta Club, and take advanced biology courses such as advanced human anatomy where they do actual human cadaver dissection. Alexis is a senior and has thoroughly enjoyed her time in biomedical sciences. Her best advice when choosing a major is to make sure you do something that gives your purpose and that you can look forward to everyday.
