Pre-Med student Jacob Cruse

Shawnee State University’s Department of Natural Sciences will be hosting its annual Pre-Med Day starting at 9:30 a.m. on December 13 in the Clark Memorial Library.

Pre-Med Day is an opportunity for you and your family to get a glimpse of what SSU has to offer students who are going into professional health fields.

Your day will include a campus tour, interactive workshops for parents and students, academic and scientific presentations, and lunch. There will also be opportunities to speak with current students in the field, successful alumni, and our faculty.

The program includes sessions such as Abra Cadaver, a sneak peek into advanced human anatomy in the cadaver lab; Movin’ On Up, a session that discusses requirements for entrance into professional schools with our alumni who are currently in the medical or other professional schools; Weird Science, a session to learn about all the undergraduate research opportunities that are available; What’s Up, Doc?, a session with local physicians who are SSU alumni; and How Do I Get There?, a session that covers questions about scheduling classes, interviews, the MCAT, and more with our current SSU students.
