Josh Lowry is a people person. He likes bringing his peers and teammates together to do something outstanding- whether that’s designing a new game or mastering an existing one. With the popularity of online competitive gaming on the rise, he knows that Shawnee’s new eSports team will put a spotlight on the university in a way never done before.

“I just want more people to know about Shawnee,” he says.

Josh and a few of his friends placed third out of over 800 teams at the Tespa Hearthstone Collegiate Tournament in 2017, which helped inspire the creation of SSU’s eSports team.

Josh founded his own club, Shawnee GG, where members play games in a casual setting. If you’re looking to explore new interests or make some new friends, consider joining a student club or organization!

Our eSports team is co-ed, so gamers from all walks of life are welcomed to compete among the best of the best. Visit for information about joining the team, and Twitch.TV/SSUESPORTS to watch them play. Go bears!
