Code a Story

Heart for Art

Learn about some of the greatest artists of all time while finding inspiration from their styles, materials, and philosophies of art. The sky is the limit to where this class can take you.

Ooey Gooey Science

(Grades 1-4)

Come “take chances, make mistakes, and get messy” while performing not-so-tidy science experiments. Students will become the scientist and learn the scientific process through hands on exploration! Join us for a fun filled, and slightly messy, week! Taught by Tanner Miller & Sammi Cotton.

Fun with Physics

(Grades 1-4)

Students will step into the shoes of a scientist every day while learning the scientific process and beginner physics in this exciting class. Taught by Tanner Miller & Sammi Cotton.

Frozen Musical Theater Class

(Grades 1-4)

Do you dream of being on the stage and becoming part of the magic of a musical? Well, this is the class for you! We will explore the world of the Frozen, Jr. Musical and learn vocal techniques, acting, a short dance, as well as make our own costume pieces. If singing and dancing are what you do in your spare time, then come and belt "Let it Go" with us in this hands-on class that will prepare you to explore the wonderful world of Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf. Taught by Jessie Hablitzel.

Space Camp

5...4...3...2...1...BLAST OFF! Paging the next generation of astronauts, scientists and explorers. Join us as we launch and explore all that outer space has to offer with hands on activities and a visit to the SSU Planetarium! Taught by Amy Shaffer.

Yoga

(Grades 1-8)

Experience yoga in a fun loving environment while discovering more about yourself throughout the journey. Each day students will explore yoga designed to cultivate self-respect, respect for others and our planet. Students will learn yoga poses, play games, tell stories and most of all, have fun! Taught by Naomi Lewis.

Football for All!

Come learn football skills through practice drills and non-contact scrimmages with State Championship Football Coach Rob Woodward. Whether you are new to the game or an experienced player you will benefit from this fun and exciting class!

Soccer

Learn next level soccer skills to improve your footwork, speed, ball control and accuracy. This class will be taught by Shawnee State’s own collegiate Women’s Soccer coach Natasha Ademakinwa.

eSports: It’s in The Game

(Grades 4-8)

Learn the tips and tricks to competitively crush Hero, League of Legends, Mario and Smash Brothers by examining VOD reviews and learning tips from the pros. This class will be taught by Shawnee State’s own collegiate eSports coach Kyle Trapp.

eSports: E is for EVERYONE

(Grades 1-3)

Availability: Session 3 (1:30–3:00 pm)

This is an introduction in eSports for beginners. In this class you will learn about competitive gaming, team mechanics and try out new games to test your skills! This class will be taught by Shawnee State’s own collegiate eSports coach Kyle Trapp.

Let’s Get Inky

(Grades 1-8)

Come create projects with paper, ink, and stamps! You will learn how to use professional tools such as die cutting machines, paper trimmer, ink pads, rubber and photopolymer stamps, stamparatus stamp positioning tool, and more! Hand-stamped projects such as greeting cards, scrapbooks, bookmarks, fun fold paper techniques, how to use shaving cream to create fun background paper are just a sampling of what you can create!! Taught by Crystal Amato.

Karate

(Grades 1-8)

In this class we will learn basic karate moves and end the week with a white belt graduation ceremony. Taught by Sensei Victoria Book.

Basketball

Take your basketball skills to the next level during drills, skills and other fundamental building activities all while improving your physical fitness. This class will be taught by Shawnee State’s own collegiate Men’s Basketball Coach Delano Thomas.

It's All Fun and Games

(Grades 1-8)

Participate in active outdoor games involving relay races, team competitions, and individual challenges. Students can fall in love with classic, fun games like tag, red light-green light, hula hoops, and 4-square. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some summer outdoor fun. Taught by Dawn Lemon.

Video Productions

Ever wonder how movies are made? In this course we will cover the basics of videoing, editing, enhancing, and producing movies. You will even be able to take home a DVD of your own, capturing your Cub Camp experience! Taught By Josh Sturgill.

Green Screen

(Grades 4-8)

Take your video production to the next level with the addition of the green screen! Green screen allows students to tell a story, explain an idea, and express themselves in truly creative and unique ways. Taught by Josh Sturgill.

Experienced players and beginners can come together to play a sport we love. Small drills and games will be incorporated into the classes to encourage positive competitiveness to allow students to learn while having fun! Taught by Shawnee State’s own Maria Kolinoff.

LEGO into Summer

Paint like a Pro

Art Adventure

Junior Naturalist

Learn what it takes to care for a state park including the land and all of the animals in it with Shawnee State Forest’s own Naturalist, Jenny Richards.

Speak Up, Move Up!

(Grades 6-8)

Availability:

Studies show 90% of individuals express a fear of speaking in front of a group. The results of participating in “Speak Up;MoveUp” is increased personal insight and confidence with increased use of language and creativity in sharing your skills and interests. The ability to express who you are (including your interests and skills) improves your ability to develop future healthy individuals and group relationships. Taught by Marsha Harris.

Conversational Spanish

(Grades 6-8)

This delightful class will challenge students’ amazing brain through increased interpersonal skills leading to increased self-esteem and confidence in building new relationships. Studies indicate that youth learning a second language have improved academic skills based on a whole-brain interactive strategy. The results of participating in this delightful learning experience will provide the confidence your youth needs to engage in future Spanish classes leading to their increased personal and academic success. Robotics

Order in the court! All rise, the honorable YOU presiding! That’s right, you will learn about the different jobs in the legal process then end the week by putting on you town trial. Taught by Shawnee State Professor Dr. Aaron Bruewer.
