Semester Data Conversion

As a part of the overall Semester Conversion effort, UIS will be converting all current and historical student data during the week of June 18th.

During this effort, 1.2 million student course work records will be converted from quarter hours to semester hours. 

Testing of the converted semester hours has been completed across all administrative areas and will be put into the production environment by the end of the conversion week.  All course history will be converted and no data will be lost or left behind.  Transcripts created after the conversion date will communicate that the University transitioned from Quarters to Semesters via a short message.

An example conversion is if a student took a 4.0 hour quarter class, it will convert to a 2.68 hour value for semesters. 
The conversion formula used to do this is:            Quarter Hours x .67 = Semester Hours

The original quarter hour total will continue to be stored for each student.
