Mondays

  • 5:00-6:00 pm Pre-Primary Creative Movement (3-5 yrs) *Limited Space

Tuesdays

  • 6:00-7:00 Primary Ballet (6-10 yrs)
  • 7:00-8:00 Level I Ballet (11 yrs +)
  • 8:00-9:00 Level I Contemporary (11 yrs +)

Wednesdays

  • 5:00-6:00 Primary Tap (6-10yrs)
  • 6:00-7:00 Level II Ballet (14yrs +)
  • 7:00-8:00 Level II Contemporary (14yrs+)
  • 8:00-9:00 Level II Tap (14yrs +)

American Ballet Theater National Training Curriculum

All Academy classes are taught in coordination with the Core National Arts Standards and the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum guidelines.

Academy Tuition and Fees

Fall Semester August 26-December 13

Tuition must be paid in full or 1st payment prior to the start of the semester

All tuition prices are for the entire 16 week semester

Tuition

  • 1 Class per week = $290.00 (16 wk)
  • 2 Classes per week = $515.00 (16 wk)

Payment Schedule

  • 1 Class per week - $96.67
  • 2 Classes per week - $171.67

1st Payment is due on or before August 26, 2019

2nd Payment is due on or before October 14, 2019

3rd Payment is due on or before December 2, 2019

** All accounts must be current for students to continue their dance education - for other payment considerations please speak directly to the Academy Director

Costume Fees

Winter Concert Costume Fee

Winter Concert Costume Fee - $40.00 per child, per class. Performance is optional but encouraged. (this fee includes 1 Concert costume per class participating and 1 pair of tights. Please see examples of “Concert Costumes” for reference.)

Winter Concert Costume Fee payment is due on September 30th.

Spring Recital Costume Fee

Spring Recital Costume Fee = $75.00 per child, per class. Performance is optional but encouraged. (this fee includes 1 performance costume per class participating and 1 pair of tights. Please see examples of “Recital Costumes” for reference)

Spring Recital Costume Fee payment is due on or by January 25th

Concert & Recital Tickets

Winter Dance Concert

The annual Winter Dance Concert will be in conjunction with the SSU Student and Faculty Dance Concert. This concert is free and open the the public. The Performing Arts Academy would greatly appreciate your donation to the Shawnee State University Foundation on behalf of the program. You may make your donation at givecampus.com (Shawnee State University) or through the McKinley Box Office. This concert will take place in the Kahl Experimental Theatre.

Spring Dance Recital

The annual Spring Dance Recital will showcase the Performing Arts Academy students, faculty and guest artists. This concert will take place in the Eloise Covert Smith Theatre. Tickets are $15.00 adult and $10.00 student/senior and will be available through the McKinley Box office.

Academy Levels & Descriptions

Classes are offered for dancers ages 3-18.

Pre-Primary: Ages 3-5

Pre-Primary Level is designed for dancers 3-5yrs old. This level focuses on development of gross motor movement, spatial awareness, rhythm, and the foundations of creative movement.

(3yr olds must be potty trained to attend class)


Primary: Ages 6-10

Primary Level is designed for dancers 6-10yrs old. This level focuses on development of gross and fine motor movement, spatial awareness, rhythm & musicality, use of ballet vocabulary, correct body alignment, incorporating foundations of creative movement along side classical and contemporary dance techniques.


Level I: Ages 11+

Level I is designed for dancers 11+ with beginner/ intermediate skill levels. This level focuses on development of gross and fine motor movement, spatial awareness, rhythm & musicality, use of specific technique vocabulary, correct body alignment, expansion of beginner/intermediate techniques, and development of the dance aesthetic.


Level II: Ages 14+

Level II is designed for dancers 14+ with intermediate/advance skill level This level focuses on the expansion of gross and fine motor movement, spatial awareness, rhythm & musicality, use of specific technique vocabulary, correct body alignment, expansion of intermediate/advanced skills, and continued development of the dance aesthetic.
