Fall 2018 – Career workshops and events:
*Career Workshops are on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
September 4 & 5 – Career Planning – Self Discovery and occupational exploration. Find out how to determine what jobs/careers fit your interests and values. Create a success plan.
Event: Career Center Open House – September 5 – 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Join us for refreshments and visit our new space in 124 Massie Hall.
September 11 & 12 – Resumes, cover letter, & references – Learn how to create modern job search documents that will help you compete for jobs and internships.
September 18 & 19 - Career Fair and Networking Tips- Discover ways to put your best foot forward and network with potential employers and college recruiters.
September 25 & 26 Career Connections – Job/Internship Search – Understand the process of applying for jobs on-line and using your Career Connections Career Management System.

October 2 & 3 – Graduate School Applications – Gain knowledge on what graduate schools are looking for and how to apply.
Event: Graduate and Professional School Fair – October 9
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Morris University Center Lobby
October 9 & 10 – Internship – Explore how experiential education can increase your success in building vital skills for your career. Find out how to locate top internship sites.
October 16 & 17 – Interviewing – Receive tips on how to answer questions related to your skills and education with clarity and insight into what employers are looking for.
October 23 & 24 – Choosing a major – Combine your dreams, interests, values, and skills to create an academic plan.
October 30 & 31 – Social Media – Become skilled at using Linked-in, Facebook and other media to create an on-line professional image that employers will value.
November 6 & 7 – Liberal Arts – Job Search – Realize the value of your college degree and experience to create a marketing plan for job applications and resumes.
November 13 & 14 – Professional Etiquette – Become comfortable learning basic business protocol and dining manners.
November 20 & 21 – No Career Workshops or Career Studio
November 27 & 28 – Evaluating job offers and salary negotiations – Understand what your education and experience are worth to an employer and geographic area.
Career Studio – Don't just talk about your career plans – work on them!
Career Studio will be available in Massie 125 Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Bring your laptop and career/job search questions. Experienced career counselors and peer coaches will be available to help you create strategies for success, compose resumes and job search documents, complete graduate school applications, review interview questions and preparation, etc. No appointment is necessary.
