Vagina Monologues" will be
performed by SSU students and staff as part of
V-Day Shawnee
State 2008. The play was written by Eve Ensler and has
been performed in cities all across America and on hundreds of
college campuses.

Shelter. Tickets are on sale at the McKinley Box Office in

Doris Lessing: Political Fiction, Science Fiction,
and the Nobel Prize
Dr. Darren Harris-Fain, Shannon Lawson, and Patricia
Spradlin will examine some of the many works by 2007
Nobel Prize winning author. Upon making the
announcement about the Nobel Prize award, the
Swedish Academy described Doris Lessing as an
“epicist of the female experience, who with
skepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a
divided civilization to scrutiny".
Lessing has authored more than 50 books
over the course of her prolific writing career.

The Costs
of Being a Stay-at-Home Mom – Can you Afford It?
Katy Mathuews will provide
research statistics on the economic impact of women who drop
out of the workforce to be stay-at-home moms. A panel
presentation will follow with insights from couples who have
taken different paths to balancing the needs of their
families.

Cell phones
will be collected during the month of March in honor of
Dr. Virginia Apgar.
Funds
generated will be given to the March of Dimes to support research into the causes of premature
birth, education to help women have healthy babies, and
assistance for healthcare providers in identifying women at risk
for premature birth.
