UIS Launches Security Awareness Education Campaign, "Be Informed, Be Aware, Be Responsible About Information Security"
UIS will be meeting with all academic and administrative departments on campus to educate employees about the importance of securing student and employee confidential data created and used during the normal course of operation. The purpose of our meetings will be to answer questions about the information provided on our Information Security Awareness web site which serves as a prerequisite for identifying what information qualifies as confidential, protected information at SSU. We also ask departments and their employees to engage in efforts to identify where confidential data resides on individual computers. We will continue to work with each department to define an action plan that will specify where protected data should be electronically stored and secured.
Awareness is among the most powerful tools in the fight against identity theft and loss of confidential information. The more you know about how to protect your information and the information of others you come in contact with, the harder it is for information thieves to commit their crimes.
If you department has not yet participated in an Information Security Awareness and you would like to schedule one, please contact Jaime Madden at jmadden@shawnee.edu or x3204.
