Campus Wide for Fall 2011 – About the Upgrade
Microsoft Office Professional 2010 is very similar to Microsoft Office 2007, however it adds many features that will enhance mobile computing and will integrate more smoothly into the Live@edu email service used by Shawnee State University students.
A general overview for the Shawnee State University upgrade to Microsoft Office 2010 is as follows:
Classroom Labs and Student Use Computers:
All classroom labs and other student use computers will continue to use Microsoft Office 2007 throughout the end of Summer Term 2011. During the break between the end of Summer 2011 classes and the start of Fall 2011 classes these labs and all other student use computers will be upgraded from Microsoft Office 2007 to Microsoft Office 2010. The exact date that these machines will be upgraded will be communicated as it is scheduled, but know that it will not be while classes are in session to avoid disruption.
Academic Departments and Faculty Office Computers:
Academic Departments will be scheduled for upgrade to Office 2010 on either August 4, 2011 or August 5, 2011. Upgrades will be scheduled for each department as a group. This will include all computers within each department, including faculty, staff, administrators, and student employees.
Any faculty member that uses Microsoft Office for classroom instruction may request that their office computer be upgraded in advance if they desire so that they can have adequate time to prepare for fall courses since Office 2010 will be the tool available to faculty and students in the labs for the start of Fall Semester. To request early installation in your office please submit an email to Help_Desk@shawnee.edu.
Administrative Offices:
Administrative Offices will be scheduled for upgrade to Office 2010 on either August 4, 2011 or August 5, 2011. Upgrades will be scheduled for each department as a group. UIS will contact your area to ensure the prospective upgrade dates do not interfere with your office operation.
If you have questions about the upcoming upgrade, please contact the UIS Help Desk at Help_Desk@shawnee.edu
