Ryan's Rant

Hello all,

Summer is almost here!!!  As we continue to plan for your pending arrival, I hope all of you are trying as hard as ever in your classes.  One final push in studying and school will be over for the year, so give it your all.

We have many things planned for the summer that we hope you will enjoy.  For those of you who are going on the big trip out west, we are trying to finalize all the plans this week.  We will fly into Seattle and then spend seven days driving through Washington and Oregon .  I know that you will not believe some of the sights you are going to see and I hope you enjoy the trip as much as we enjoy being able to take you to see them.

I look forward to seeing you all in just a few weeks.  It is time to start getting excited!!!

See ya,

Ryan

Bubba's Banter

Hey folks,

It was great to get out on school visits this month and see each of you.  I know that some of you expressed a little bit of nervousness about the summer.  Just remember that we are here to provide you with a good, meaningful experience.  During the summer our doors are always open if you have a concern or a need while on campus.

Things are in full gear here now.  Many times I don't think that students understand what exactly goes into planning for the summer.  One context to put it in is to look at the sheer number of meals that have to be accounted for.  You will have somewhere around 31 full days on campus.  31 days X 3 meals comes to 93 meals per person.  Now multiply 93 X 49 and you get 4,464 meals that have to be accounted for.  This doesn't include the final trip for seniors.

Keep up the hard work as you close out the school year.  For the seniors, please don't forget to utilize us as much as possible now, and down the road.  It has been a pleasure to serve each of you.  Please stay in touch as we are only an email, or toll free phone call away.

Bubba out.

Kendra's Korner

Hey everyone,

The year is almost over and you know what that means: SUMMER! I hope that all of you are getting pumped up for the summer and are ready to come have a good time. We are already starting to plan many exciting trips and activities for the summer all with you in mind. That is why the most important part of the summer is for you to come with a good attitude and an open mind. I hope that the parent meeting eased some of you fears and that you are all ready to be here for the summer.

I also hope that all of you are doing well in school and are sticking with your school work. I know that spring fever has hit a lot of people, including me, but hang in there. These last few weeks DO matter. Keep your grades up and keep looking toward the end.

Keep up the good work. We will see you all in the next few weeks.

Kendra

Ashley’s Advice

Hey Guys! Summer will be here in a few weeks! Aren't you excited?! The UMBS countdown has started. Hopefully you have all completed your homework assignments so that you can still attend. I know that Senioritis has probably kicked in but don't give in now. Trust me!... Been there, Done that... Boy am I glad its over! I can't wait to see all of you again. It looks like this year's group is going to be a lot of fun. Good Luck to everyone on your exams and an early graduation congratulations to all of the seniors! Lots of Luck!

Homework Assignment

(Remember that it is essential we receive your assignment and that failure to complete assignments will affect your participation status for the summer.)

This assignment involves completing a little research on three colleges that you may be interested in.  Using the link to OCAN on the left hand side of the newsletter, compare the cost of three colleges that you might be interested in.

Once you have three schools selected on the college cost comparison tool, print the results and send them via mail to us.  Simple and easy.

West Union High School- Adams County, Ohio
(Home of:  Tom Tully, Cindy Thacker, Joshua Dykes, Pam Pritchett, and Debbie Lynch)

West Union High School offers  a unique diversity of classes to students.  An interesting program of study available at WUHS that you might not see in other schools is the Electronic Media Program.  This program involves WUHS juniors and seniors who take courses in web design, audio mixing, and video mixing.  Another unique aspect of this program is that students operate a radio station out of the school.  The next time you are driving through Adams County tune to WUHS 96.9 and just maybe you might hear one of our very UBMS students broadcasting over the airwaves of southern Ohio.
