December
2007

Hey All,
I just want to
give you a
couple of
updates from the
UBMS office.
Things have been
a little hectic
for Steve,
Sarah, and Tina
but we have all
pushed through
everything and
still try to
keep the holiday
spirit. Our
Annual
Performance
Report is due on
December 31st
so we have been
VERY busy trying
to get all of
the necessary
information from
our alumni and
your guidance
counselors. I
hope to see each
of you at the
December
activity on the
15th.
We have some
really great
things planned
for that
afternoon. We
will have two
presenters in
the morning and
our gift
exchange and
other Christmas
activities
following
lunch.
Winter Retreat
preparations are
in the works. I
have been
looking at a
couple of
different places
and have been
searching for
some activities
and a college
visit. After
the final date
and location has
been set, I will
be sending out
permission forms
to those who are
eligible. Those
must be returned
back to me as
soon as possible
to secure your
spot. Winter
Retreat is
typically at the
end of February
so next month
will be rather
busy for all of
us here at SSU
as we prepare
for the retreat
as well as begin
selecting new
students. The
recruiting dates
will also be
announced soon.
I would like to
have a couple of
you from each
school join me
in the
presentations
and help share
the UBMS
experience.
Also, begin
talking to your
friends and
encourage them
to apply so we
can have a
really good pool
of candidates.
The application
deadline will be
on February 1st.
Seniors—I hope
that you are in
the process of
narrowing down
your colleges
and filling out
as many
scholarship
forms that come
into your
sight. You can
never apply for
too many and if
you need any
recommendation
letters, I will
gladly help.
All that I ask
is that you give
me a couple days
in advance.
When you send me
a request,
please let me
know what the
letter is for
(college
admission,
scholarship,
etc.) and also
include some of
your in-school
and
out-of-school
activities. If
you guys need
any help with
anything, let me
know and if I
can’t help you I
will find
someone that
can. Do not
wait until the
last minute.
Pay close
attention to
deadlines!
And lastly, I
want to wish all
of you a very
Merry
Christmas.
Although I may
get on you about
homework and
your eligibility
requirements, I
want you to know
how thankful I
am for the job
that I have and
the opportunity
I’m given to
work with such
great students
and wonderful
people. I don’t
want to see
anyone miss out
on anything
because of a
simple
assignment, so I
continue to
remind you week
after week. We
are going to
have a lot of
fun this year
and the upcoming
summer. I want
you ALL to be
there. Have a
good Christmas
and a safe New
Year.
Happy Holidays!

Hey
everyone, Christmas is around the corner. You know what that
means right? Soon, classes will not be in session. Try to
keep your spirits high and make sure you stay on top of your
work. I know that we're all probably having sugar plums
dancing in our heads (or presents possibly), but we have to
be good. You can be sure that Santa's checking his list,
especially to see if you've done the monthly homework (wink,
wink). Remember that if you need help, Santa always has his
little helpers. Whenever you do get around to Christmas
vacation though, don't forget to take the time to enjoy the
season. I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year!

UBMS Photo Page
Heather Holland
came up with the idea of sharing summer photos with one another
through the internet. She has setup a webpage through photobucket.com in which UBMS participants can share their photos
and order a CD of photos if they desire. The following are
directions and a link so that you can view and upload your own
photos.
-
save your pictures to a folder on your computer
-
go to
www.photobucket.com
-
put in these two items:
sign in name:
UBMSSummerFUN
password:
2msfamily -
click on browse and find the folder your pictures
are in
-
double click on the picture (it will bring you back
to the main page) then click submit
-
it’ll take some time
depending on how fast or slow your computer is, but your picture
will load up there.
-
keep adding pictures from the summer, the final
trip, anything to do with UBMS
