Ryan's
Rant
I hope everyone is having
a great spring and enjoying this time of change. It is
nice to get home from work or school and have time in the
evening to do things outside. There is a problem with
springtime, however--spring fever! You know what I am
talking about. You start putting homework off to hang
out, start making plans for the summer (before and after the
UBMS program of course), and you start counting the number
of school days left.
All of these are natural
things to start wanting to do in the springtime. Now
it is more important than ever to continue to work hard and
make sure you get your homework turned in and study hard.
We are still working on
plans for the summer and are trying to make it even better
than last year. We will be announcing the classes for
summer next month. Until then, continue to study hard
and have a good spring.

Bubba's
Banter
Hey folks, Just a quick note this time around. While
preparing to respond to some homework in my counseling
class this semester I came across this poem:
The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop,
on what day or what hour.
Now is the only time you have,
So live it with a will.
Don't wait until tomorrow,
The hands may then be still.
-Author unknown
Some of you reading this are preparing for
graduation, to others graduation is still along ways
off, and maybe you are thinking about the upcoming
summer. Sometimes we can be knocked around as we try to
reach goals. Perhaps you have set a goal that you think
you may not be able to attain. I encourage each of you
to continue plowing ahead. Let each step you take be
with meaning and purposefulness. Keep your heads up and
try to realize that today's troubles will be tomorrow's
memory. Each of you have been blessed with a special
talent, and whatever that talent may be, use it to the
best of your ability.
I can't wait to get out to the schools and meet with
each of you again.
Until then take care,
Bubba

Ashley’s
Advice
Hey Everyone! This summer is getting closer by the minute
and I can't wait! I hope everyone is doing well and I would
love to get updates on everyone. Spring Quarter has started
here at SSU and so far I think the quarter is going to be a
good one (cross my fingers!!). I hope everyone is ready for
the summer and if any of you have questions about anything
don't be afraid to e-mail me! Good luck with the rest of the
school year!

Steve's
Schpill
Welcome students to the first edition of Steve’s Schpill.
For those of you I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet,
my name is Steve Cunningham and I am the Program
Assistant/Head Resident Advisor here at UBMS. I have just
started working in the office here and helping Bubba plan
for the summer and truthfully, I couldn’t ask for a better
coworker (yes, I’m sucking up). As Tim had mentioned earlier
in an e-mail, I have some pretty big shoes to fill. We all
know of the hard work and dedication that Ms. Kendra Frazier
put forth and she will be greatly missed this upcoming
summer. However, I promise you all that I will do the same
in helping each of you in any way that I can in an attempt
to give you the ultimate UBMS experience.
The summer plans are getting closer and closer to being
finished, the RA’s have been interviewed and selected, and
the excitement for the 80’s builds more and more after each
day. New students—welcome
to the program. If there is anything that I can do to help
any of you, veterans or rookies, don’t hesitate to e-mail or
call me. My advice for this month is to just simply not
slack off. I know how hard it is to stay busy with the
schoolwork when the weather is beginning to warm up, but
remember that the last grading period is just as important
as the first. Keep in touch with us, don’t be afraid to ask
us anything, and keep up with that homework.
Lastly, I want to welcome Roy McCall into the world.
Congratulations Ryan and Rachel!
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!

Homework Assignment
Remember, it is essential we
receive your assignment. Failure to complete assignments
will affect your participation status for the summer.)

The person that has been assigned to be your
roommate is the name directly across from yours. We did our
best to accommodate everyone’s wishes. Please contact your
RA and introduce yourself. If you do not have e-mail
or internet access, call the office and we will put you in
touch with your RA. If you would like the e-mail
address of your roommate or have any other questions, e-mail
Steve and he will get that to you.
Due by April 30.

The University of Cincinnati
traces its origins to 1819, the year in which
Cincinnati College and the Medical College of
Ohio were chartered. In 1870, the City of
Cincinnati established the University of
Cincinnati, which later absorbed the earlier
institutions. In 1906, the University of
Cincinnati created the first cooperative
education program in the United States through
its College of Engineering. For many years, the
University of Cincinnati was the second oldest
and second largest municipal university in the
country. In 1968, UC became a "municipally
sponsored, state affiliated" institution,
entering a transitional period culminating on
July 1, 1977 when UC became one of Ohio's state
universities. The University of Cincinnati is
classified as a Research Extensive University by
the Carnegie Commission, and is ranked as one of
America’s Top 25 public research universities.

UBMS Photo Page
Heather Holland
came up with the idea of sharing summer photos with one another
through the internet. She has setup a webpage through
photobucket.com in which UBMS participants can share their photos
and order a CD of photos if they desire. The following are
directions and a link so that you can view and upload your own
photos.
-
save your pictures to a folder on your computer
-
go to
www.photobucket.com
-
put in these two items:
sign in name:
UBMSsummer2005
password:
bubba
-
click on browse and find the folder your pictures
are in
-
double click on the picture (it will bring you back
to the main page) then click submit
-
it’ll take some time
depending on how fast or slow your computer is, but your picture
will load up there.
-
keep adding pictures from the summer, the final
trip, anything to do with UBMS
