Spring Semester 2012 Orientation

Our day long individualized sessions give the freshman or transfer student the opportunity to learn about the Shawnee State University experience. Student orientation leaders, staff, and faculty members will help you through the orientation process.

Orientation days have fully scheduled activities, including registration for courses. Therefore, we will not be able to administer a Placement test during Orientation. If you do not have an ACT, SAT or placement test score, please schedule the SSU Placement test.

Check in for each orientation for spring semester is 9:00-9:30. Orientation begins at 9:30 in the Vern Rife Center for the Arts.

Have you taken the placement or met the ACT/SAT requirements?
To be allowed to register for classes during your session, you MUST either have taken the ACT/SAT or placement. Students are placed into the appropriate English and Math courses based upon ACT/SAT scores. Transfer students do not need to take placement if they are transferring from another institution. All students are required to submit ACT or SAT results or take SSU's placement test prior to your session. To schedule at a time to take the placement, please click here. Transfer Students:

Have you submitted all transcripts from previously attended colleges/universities? Don't wait until your orientation/registration session to process your financial aid forms. If you have not already begun this process call our financial aid office now at 1-800-959-2SSU. If you have attended more than one college/university, you must have each institution send an official transcript. College transcripts must be received directly from those institutions. Photocopies, fax, and hand-carried transcripts are not accepted. Students with equivalent English and/or Math credit are exempt from placement testing.
