Shawnee State University partners with Portsmouth Police Department to promote PROGRAM In Case of Emergency History: Today, we carry cell phones with names and numbers stored in its memory. Nobody, other than ourselves, know which of these numbers belongs to our closest friends or family. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our cell phones, but they wouldn't know who to call. A paramedic in England developed a plan by which there would be a nationally and possibly internationally supported campaign by which emergency response personnel could locate quickly the name of emergency contact names from a cell phone. ICE or "In Case of Emergency" was the plan developed. The plan suggests the listing of "ICE" in the phone directory of cell phones. Emergency personnel trained to recognize the "ICE" campaign would know immediately who to call in case of an emergency. The idea or campaign has spread to numerous countries and is spreading to locations across the United States. A great idea will make a difference! Be sure to share this idea with friends and loved-ones, including children.
