History of Shawnee State University's Writing Center

The Reading and Writing Center was established in 2003 with funds from Shawnee's Title III grant.  Grant money was used to renovate ADM 031, dividing it into two rooms: an outer room (the tutoring area) and a computer-assisted classroom.  Initially, the Center was only open to at-risk students enrolled in Developmental English classes, many of which met in ADM 031.  In September of 2005, the Reading and Writing Center opened its doors to all Shawnee students interested in getting help with their reading or writing.  The name was changed to the Writing Center in 2011.
