Topic Sentences

Many paragraphs begin with a topic sentence, a sentence that overviews the main point of that paragraph.  The Longman Concise Companion provides instructions and examples for topic sentences in Chapter 7, section b, "Revising for paragraph focus" (pages 39-40).
