Representing Your Reasoning

The Longman Concise Companion suggests four strategies authors can use to insure that they are perceived as knowledgeable writers who have good judgment:

  1. Be well informed.
  2. Include readers' perspectives and likely reactions.
  3. Be balanced and reasonable.
  4. Assess the appropriateness of strong bias.

The authors elaborate on this advice in Chapter 9, section c (pages 61-2).
