Grading Standards

RWC tutors cannot grade papers.  RWC tutors will not tell students what grade they think a paper deserves.

The criteria used to evaluate a paper can vary from assignment to assignment, from course to course, from department to department.  The general grading criteria used in English 111, 112, and 115 are available here.  Note, however, that even though the classes have common grading standards, the assignments will vary.  A narrative paper that earns an A in English 111 cannot be submitted in lieu of a documented research paper in English 112; if it were, the paper would fail to meet the requirements of the 112 assignment, and it would receive a failing grade.

Students should consult their instructors to find out what grading criteria will be used in other courses.
