 Job Description

Shawnee State University, an open-admission primarily undergraduate state university, is accepting applications for a continuing contract-eligible (tenure-track) faculty position jointly appointed to the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the University College.  Requirements are an earned doctorate or masters in a field related to developmental mathematics education and 3-5 years of experience teaching developmental mathematics.

 Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to: 

  • teaching developmental mathematics;
  • implementing a variety of learning strategies for teaching under-prepared students and students at-risk;
  • setting an overall strategy, goals, and philosophy of developmental math courses;
  • working with the university community to set an overall strategy, goals, and philosophy of developmental mathematics;
  • working with full-service and part-time faculty who teach developmental mathematics to achieve course goals and objectives;
  • creating and implementing assessment methods that can be used to continuously improve and/or refine developmental math courses, placement, and retention.
