Campus
Ministry is Shawnee State's first and oldest ministry program.
Campus Ministry to
Shawnee State University (CMSSU) has been serving Shawnee State
students since the 1970s. We are the oldest of all the ministry
groups operating at SSU, and are faithfully supported by over 14
local congregations.
Campus Ministry
annually sponsors the “Welcome Back” lunch for students the first
week of school, the Stop the Hate Vigil in October, and the
Thanksgiving Lunch each November.
Bible studies are
held weekly at the Campus Ministry house, and all are invited to
come and share their opinions. We launched our on-line Bible
Discussion forum in January 2008. Students are encouraged to join
our discussion, or post their own questions. To check out this
feature please click here:

We also offer
several other small groups at the Campus Ministry house throughout
the week and pay for background checks for anyone interested in
becoming a volunteer chaplain at the Juvenile Detention Center.
For students seeking
out a church, Campus Ministry has developed a pamphlet, “Church
Search,” that lists all participating churches in the Portsmouth
area and gives information on each church.
